Phosphating process

Detailed steps of the phosphating process

Degreasing: Firstly, the metal surface needs to be degreased to remove the grease and dirt on the surface to ensure that the phosphating film can be firmly attached to the metal surface.

Water washing: After degreasing, the degreasing agent and impurities on the surface are rinsed off with water.

Descaling: Remove rust and oxidised layer from the metal surface by chemical or physical methods.

Surface Conditioning: Surface adjustment treatment to make the metal surface reach the best phosphating conditions.

Phosphating: The treated metal is immersed in phosphate solution to form a phosphate chemical conversion film.

Washing: After phosphating, wash off the phosphate solution on the surface with water.

Drying: Finally, the treated metal is dried to ensure that the phosphate film is dry and strong.

Purpose and application areas of phosphating treatment

The main purpose of phosphating treatment is to provide protection to the base metal to prevent corrosion of the metal; used for priming before painting to improve the adhesion of the paint film layer and corrosion resistance; in the metal cold working process to play the role of friction reduction lubrication. Phosphate treatment is widely used in steel surface treatment, non-ferrous metals (such as aluminium, zinc) can also be applied phosphating. Phosphate film used as anti-corrosion protective film of steel, with corrosion resistance, lubrication and strong adhesion.
